Happy One-Year Anniversary, Gillian!

This week we celebrated Senior Marketing Communications Specialist Gillian Lindstrom’s one-year anniversary at Communique!

Gillian is motivated, kind, and always willing to help. Her smile brightens the office everyday and we are so lucky to have her on our team.

While Gillian has been a member of the Communique Team since the day she was born, check out this Q&A with Gillian for an overview of her first year of being full-time with our integrated marketing agency:

Q: It’s your one-year anniversary at Communiqué…. how does it feel?

A: I can’t believe it’s been a year! A lot has happened within the last year at Communiqué and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.

Q: How did you first get involved with Communiqué?

A: I have had the opportunity to intern with Communiqué since I was 15, which grew into a relationship that led me back for every break in college and eventually turned into a part-time position during my senior year. Being able to now say I have spent a year full-time at Communiqué is wild!

Q: What does your typical day look like in the office?

A: There truly isn’t a “typical” day at Communiqué. I love being able to come into work every day not fully knowing what I’m going to be working on. Most often, I’m working with clients on projects related to social media, marketing recommendations, and public relations.

Q: If you could trade positions with someone in the office for one day, who would it be and why?

A: I would love to trade positions with our Creative Director Tim Youngs or Graphic Design Specialist Melissa Sprole for a day! They are both constantly working so creatively and constantly need to be ready with a great idea. Not to mention, I’d love to be a graphic design guru for a day!

Q: What are some of the most important things you’ve learned over the past year (either about yourself or the marketing world)?

A: I think one of the most important things I’ve learned over the last year is that it’s really all about the people you surround yourself with. That is what drives passion and excitement in all of our projects. I think that engaging with people who heighten your energy is important, whether in work or personal life.

Q: What are some of your favorite Communiqué team memories?

A: I love just about any happy hour event we do as a team, especially outside! It’s always a time for us to reflect on the workday and relax while really getting to know one another. There have been so many great stories and experiences together as a team it’s hard to name them!

Q: What is your proudest accomplishment/moment of the year?

A: My proudest accomplishment of the year is the amount of growth in position titles I’ve had at Communiqué. Starting in an entry level position, I am proud to say within a year I have worked my way up in the company and now have a title that truly resonates with what I do.

Q: Describe what Communiqué means to you in 15 words or less.

A: Communiqué is family. As simple as that.

Q: What advice would you give your 15 year old self?

A: It’s funny that my 15-year-old self was in a very similar position that I’m in today! I would tell her to continue to stay true to herself and set her goals high.

Q: What advice would you give to someone entering the marketing field?

A: For anyone interested in the marketing field, I highly recommend you just take the leap. There’s a lot related to marketing that is relatively intuitive and it is truly rewarding to create something from scratch that is able to be seen across so many media. Even without higher education, there is so much you are able to learn once you just get your hands dirty.

Q: What would your theme song be for this past year?

A: My theme song for the last year is Deceptacon by Le Tigre. It’s just always a song that can pump me up (and has been used to do so on many drives to work).

Q: What’s a secret skill people don’t know about you?

A: A skill people might not know about me is that I love to make detailed and organized itineraries.

Q: What are some of your plans for the next year?

A: This year is a big one for me! I am happy to be moving towards NYC this July to begin a new journey in a different city. As someone born and raised in Ithaca, I absolutely love it here but am eager to have a new experience! I am so grateful to be able to stay on as a Communiqué team member throughout my move.

Congratulations on one-year, Gillian, and here’s to many more! Thank you for all you do for our team, clients, and community.
