Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport

Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport is the only airport located in Tompkins Country, serving hundreds of thousands of passengers each year traveling to and from the region. ITH is a one-stop connection to over 750 global destinations through four connecting hubs; Washington-Dulles via United Airlines, Charlotte and Philadelphia via American Airlines and Detroit via Delta Airlines. Daily non-stop flights to and from these major hubs allow for both domestic and international travel. Just ten minutes from downtown Ithaca, ITH is a major gateway for students and families of Cornell University, Ithaca College, and TC3.

For over a decade Communiqué D & M Inc. has conducted nearly all aspects of marketing and PR for the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport, including a simple yet effective rebranding strategy. The ITH brand is a great example of making use of what you already have; we saw the potential of this three-letter airport code as more than just a drop-down menu selection, and instead let it evolve into its own identity. We have striven to showcase and elevate the unique intimacy of ITH, from creating an up-close video series with ITH personnel, to keeping the public updated on events through our management of social media platforms. Communiqué’s work for the airport has epitomized “integrated marketing”. From video and print campaigns, to radio spots, to website design, updates and maintenance, Communiqué has been not only responsive but also proactive to meet the needs of the ever-changing realm of aviation. We consistently produce content for engagement on social media, as well as blogs and vlogs for the ITH website.

Communiqué has also assisted in grant writing for ITH, which recently resulted in a 24.7 million dollar grant to renovate and revitalize the airport. The grant was awarded to ITH in October 2018 as part of the Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition, and will be used to expand the existing terminal by 50 percent, as well as the addition of six new gates and three passenger bridges. Through the construction process, Communiqué has worked to keep the community updated, informed, and engaged. In addition to grants, Communiqué has helped the airport secure and market new service, such as the daily non-stop service to and from Washington-Dulles via United Airlines, which was introduced October 4th, 2018 and has been outperforming forecasts.
